Yalumba Y-series Unwooded Chardonnay, 2008 Australia
My wine buddy, Max, and I cracked open a bottle of this the other day at work (because yes, we have nothing better to do than open wine at work and “taste test”!) to see how the 2007 was drinking. We wondered, because for a unoaked Chardonnay, 2007 could be considered “pushing the limits”. Lucky for us, it was delicious still and was begging to be enjoyed! It had a slightly creamy mouth to it, so it suggests some aging on its lees for a short while. By aging it in stainless steel tanks versus oak barrels, the natural fruitiness of the grape is retained. You get nice melon, peach and pineapple flavors. For $7.99 at Ryan’s, you really won’t find a better deal!

Interesting write-up. Appreciate your posting
