Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel, California
Try to imagine a Zinfandel vine growing like a bush, standing freely on its own, with its grapes growing and weighing down practically to the dry, desert like ground. No wires and posts are holding up the vines that produce this “Old Vine Zinfandel” from California. It’s called “Head Training” and it’s becoming the popular thing to do with Zinfandel grapes. This particular Zin is made from old vines that range from 40-80 years old. That kind of age will make your vine produce less fruit, and less means more; more concentration of flavors and sugars. This Zin is medium bodied, has lots of strawberry jam on the nose, some eucalyptus flavors and toastiness from the barrel aging. If you’re into Zins, this is one to check out at Ryan’s!
