Barnwood Cabernet Sauvignon, South Mesa 2004 California
So, I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to drinking Cabs. I like them a bit older as they’ve had some time to develop and the tannins mellow out in the bottle. 2004 was a great vintage for California overall. Barnwood Cab comes from Santa Barbara and you can tell that this one has fared very well over the years and is drinking great right now! You can definitely taste the 2 years of French oak aging it had, but by now, the tannins have smoothed out very nicely and it has just a nice balance of fruit and some spice. A great deal at under $15!
