Altas Cumbres Viognier, Argentina

Talk about a great ABC wine (anything but Chardonnay)!  I remember the first time I had this wine; I almost threw the bottle out.  It tasted awful.  So I left the bottle on the counter alongside my glass I had poured and went and looked it up in Spectator or Parker online.  It had gotten a really solid review… so why did it taste so … yuck?  I went back to the glass of wine that had been sitting out for about 20 minutes now and had warmed and opened up.  WOW!  A completely different wine!!  It was delicious, juicy with peaches & melon and medium to full body.  What the heck had happened?  Like all wines, if you try to drink them at the wrong temperature, you’re bound to taste different flavors than intended.  The cold really tends to “bind” a wine (for lack of better terms) and doesn’t allow the aromas and flavors to open up properly, especially a fuller-bodied white like this.  Definitely give it a whirl, and please, serve it a touch on the warm side; you’ll love it!
