Morande Sauvignon Blanc

Morande Sauvignon Blanc 2007

What better way to kick off the month of April (and the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on the 22nd) than with an organic wine from Chile!  I bought this bottle at a whopping $8.99 from our 88 points and higher rack.  Which, by the way, did you know we have 90 wines in that section now?

I was looking for something cheap to fill up my Ryan’s reusable 6-bottle wine bag (how eco-chic!).  Now, I’m going to warn you all ahead of time about something.  It’s something so terrible, so terrifying, so unconcionable that you may have to stop reading this…  It’s a SCREWCAP.  A STELVIN CLOSURE.  No matter how you say it, it must mean its cheap, right?  Seriously, when I first tasted this wine the other night, I didn’t even want to taste it right away.  I was so intrigued and caught up in the aromas jumping out of the glass and screaming at me, all I wanted to do was smell it over and over again.  Swirl… sniff.  Ahhhhh.  Repeat.  It was like bursts of fresh oranges were leaping out of the glass.  UNbelievable!  Now for the taste test…. a nice zippy acidity to it and citrus flavors.  This wine definitely over delivers for the price!  My only warning to you is this; make sure you’ve been taking your Claritin as this wine is only worth drinking if you can take in all the fabulous aromas!

By the way, if you think my “unprofessional opinion” doesn’t matter much and you’d rather trust the professionals at a magazine called Wine & Spirits… they gave it 92 points.  Oh yeah, it’s THAT fabulous!
