All about the Whinechick!

The Whinechick is happily employed at Ryan’s Wine & Spirits!  She started her love affair with wine at Casa Larga Vineyards where she was Store  and Purchasing Manager for almost 5  years.  She then left to pursue other worldly varietals and venture out into the big world of retail wine sales where she has been for 3 1/2 years now!

At Ryan’s she is the Store Manager, tends to the admin of  website, email newsletter, blogs/facebook and organizing the wine classes held twice a month at the store.  In February 2010, she took the WSET (Wine  & Spririts Education Trust) Level 2 (Intermediate) course and passed with Merit.  Although she likes to poke fun at herself and her “unprofessional opinion in wine”, she likes to think she has learned a few things over the past 8 years in the biz (mostly by drinking a whole LOT of wine every chance she gets!)

The Whinechick (Stephanie) has been married for 7 years and has 2 beautiful children.  You can see her drinking in action at Ryan’s quite frequently when the salesmen (& women!) bring by new wines to try and at the wine classes on thursdays!

This is becoming something I look forward to. Its funny as well as educational. Keep up the good work. I would like to be considered a whinechick too! Sounds like a fun club to me!

Thanks for the encouragement Patti! Being a whinechick is definitely fun! I guess the hardest part for some people (but the most fun for me!) is to be willing to let go of wine stereotypes (like pink=dry) and be willing to experiment and get out of their comfort zone! Trying an odd sounding Spanish or Austrian varietal is the spice of life!

I will continue to try lots of wines, get sassy and educate! The things I do for the sake of wine…
